Payment Plan FAQ
Last Edited: December 17th, 2008

So many people email me asking about payment plans that instead of typing the same thing over and over I decided to add that information to a "Frequently Asked Questions" or "FAQ" page. This way, when I get emails I can just copy and paste the text in or link to this page.
Do you do payment plans?
Absolutely! I realize as well as anyone that many people (myself included) just don't have huge sums of cash around to spend on ball pythons morphs. I have used payment plans in the past to purchase morphs that I couldn't just buy outright and enjoy providing the same opportunity to 8 Ball customers whenever I can.

Do you offer payment plans on every animal that you sell?
I really wish that I could, but unfortunately I can't always offer payment plans. Certain animals, animals that I don't have a lot of and that I know are in high demand usually won't be available on payment plans. I also don't offer payment plans on animals that are on the lower end of the price range. It's always worth getting in touch with me to ask though, because many of the animals that I have for sale can be purchased with a "plan".

How do they work?
My payment plans are simple and flexible. After you pick out the ball python(s) that you're interested in, we work out a non-refundable deposit. Then, you let me know how long you need to pay the balance and the minimum you can send each month. Suggestions like $5.00 a month for the next 40 years are a little too extreme for me, but generally I'm willing to work out a reasonable arrangement. I do have a business to run and in the end, the sooner the snake is paid off the better, so please keep that in mind. The most important thing is that your agreed payment makes it to me each month. That lets me know that you are still "out there" and interested in your ball python and that I don't have to "come looking for you". Once your balance is paid, I ship out your animal!

What forms of payment do you accept for payment plans?
That's easy ... cash, personal or business checks, money orders, PayPal, credit card, etc ... you can vary it each month if you'd like. I'm definitely not shy when it comes to accepting a payment!

Is there a price difference for a payment plan?
Yes and no. While in most cases, the price is the prices, there are exceptions. Usually it's more often the case that I can offer a better deal for a single payment than I can for a "plan". Also, if you're looking to do a payment plan for longer than I feel comfortable with, offering me a little "extra" to keep and clean and feed the animal sometimes helps "convince" me. If you're looking for a "deal" though, you're not going to get it with a payment plan.

How will my ball python be cared for while I make payments?
When you make your deposit, the snake is marked as "SOLD" in my inventory and I put a sticker on it's box in my shop with your name on it. Other than that, I don't treat it any different than my own animals. It's fed and cleaned on the same schedule and offered as much food as it wants to eat.

Do you send pictures and weights of my ball python while I'm paying it off?
Pictures are usually worked out at the beginning of the plan. Given the amount of animals we care for and our crazy schedules, there's just no way that we could possibly do updated pics and weights while you pay your animal off. The sooner you get your animal paid for, the sooner you'll be able to see it. :)

Can you ship the day I make my final payment?
Most of the time I can ship (weather permitting) within a day or so of the final payment. Sometimes if I'm waiting for an order of shipping supplies to come in or if I have to take off work for family/personal reasons it may take a couple days beyond that. I also need time to make sure your snake has an empty stomach (safer for shipping) so if your snake was recently fed, that could cause a delay as well.

Is there a minimum payment?
Well, I do have to draw the line somewhere so the minimum I will accept depends on what you're buying and how much you have to put down. I'm flexible, but I also have to keep the best interest of my business in mind. I'm more than happy to try and work with you the best I can.

Have you ever had a problem with a payment plan?
The only time I've ever really had problems with payment plan is when there is a communication breakdown. I understand that sometimes life throws people a curve ball every now and then; cars break down, kids get sick, people lose their jobs, etc. There may come a point during a payment plan when you are having a little trouble. The best thing you can do is call me and let me know what's going on. I'm perfectly willing to work with you, but you have to keep me in the loop. "Disappearing" because you can't make a payment is not the way to handle things. With good communications, we can work together to figure out how to make things work.
